Hundreds of pounds raised for charity in Santa's Sleigh event

<p class="custom-rteElement-Summary">Crews from Burton Latimer Fire Station would like to thank everyone who supported their recent Santa’s Sleigh event which raised just under £1,000 for charity.</p><p>Firefighters organised to tow Father Christmas around the town in a fire engine sleigh during two evenings last week.</p><p>Father Christmas could be seen travelling around the streets of Burton Latimer on a ‘sleigh’ adorned with decorative lights, a Christmas tree and bubble machine.</p><p>Collections were carried out in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity and more than £872 was raised during the two events.</p><h2>Santa and his elves</h2><p>Local businesses Sainsbury’s and One Stop helped support the event by supplying mince pies and sweets for Santa and his elves to give away during the parades.</p><p>Firefighter Andy Sturgess, one of the organisers, said: “There was a fantastic turn out from residents and we would like to say a huge thank you from all our crew to those who kindly donated.</p><p>“A big thanks also goes to the local One Stop and Sainsbury’s for supporting our event.”</p>
