Long Buckby Fire Station Open Day to be held this weekend

Firefighters at Long Buckby will be opening the Station to the community on Saturday (September 21st) for a fun day event.

The station, in Station Road, will be running its Community Open Day between 11am and 3pm, with proceeds going to The Fire Fighters Charity and other local charities.

Entertainments will include live demonstrations of firefighting skills, water rescue throw line lessons, a silent auction, a raffle and face painting for children.

There will also be a stand for on-call firefighter recruitment, first aid lessons and plenty of home safety advice.

Visitors will see emergency service vehicles up close and have the chance to meet and chat to their local firefighters.

Firefighter Henry Sleight, one of the organisers, said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming the local community in to Long Buckby Fire Station.

“This open day will not only provide a fun day out for local people, but will also give us the chance to meet the community we serve and hopefully pass on some important safety advice to help prevent home fires.

“We will also be using the opportunity to give a boost to the on-call firefighter recruitment campaign currently running within the county. We hope as many people as possible will make it along to enjoy the day with us.”
