The Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) Community Engagement team are actively involved in working with educational settings, community groups and partners with the aim of keeping our community safe through education and advice. The team covers various subjects around the themes of fire, road and water safety.
Our school learning is aimed primarily at children in year 2 (key stage 1) and year 4 (key stage 2). We also work in the community, for example with groups that support vulnerable people or those organisations that would benefit from increased safety awareness, Our sessions are adapted and delivered in an engaging way to suit the audience we are working with. For example, fire safety messages are delivered to younger children in a way that educates and empowers them on the importance of home fire safety without causing unnecessary worry or concern.
We can work with you to deliver education and safety messages that fits your needs either through on site visits or remotely using virtual engagement. Please contact us so we can discuss how we can work with you in person or in a virtual way.
Please visit our series of Facebook videos or YouTube channel for examples of our safety education and messages.
Some of our other community engagement work includes:
- Home safety visits – fire service staff visit people in their homes and provide advice on staying safe and well often working with other organisations to ensure we reach the most vulnerable and are able to provide a comprehensive service which includes health information alongside safety education. Visit our home safety visits page for more information.
- Youth intervention – we work with young people to ensure they develop a safe understanding of hazards and risk and understand the impact of nuisance behaviour and hoax fire calls.
- Reducing deliberately started fires – our team work alongside the Arson Task Force to tackle fire-setting and work with partners to reduce fire related crime.
If you would like to discuss any of the above further please contact us, alternatively, to arrange a visit or a safety talk, please complete and submit our request a fire service visit or safety talk form
